This wonderful old map of Hollywood was originally published in 1937. It was created by Don Boggs.
Titled "Starland", this gorgeous pictorial map illustrates Hollywood as the land of the stars, where you can see the faces, homes and workplaces of all the stars.
The 1930s was considered the golden age of Hollywood with the advancement of technology and the establishment of movie genres. The most notable films from this era, which are now considered classics, are King Kong, The Wizard of Oz and Wuthering Heights.
This map has many famous entertainers' portraits surrounding the map, such as Charlie Chaplin, Cary Grant, James Stewart, Katherine Hepburn, and Shirley Temple. Dotted around the maps are illustrations of famous landmarks, roads and buildings, such as the studios responsible for many of today's big blockbuster films, such as Walt Disney Studios, 20th Century Fox Studios and Paramount Studios.
This map looks great at all sizes: 10x10 inches (25x25cm), 12x12in (31x31cm), 14x14 inches (36x36cm), 16x16in (41x41cm), 18x18in (46x46cm), 24x24 inches (61x61cm), 36x36 inches (92x92cm), 45x45 inches (114.5x114.5cm), 50x50 inches (127x127cm) and 60x60 inches (152.5x152.5cm), but it looks even better when printed large.
I can create beautiful, large prints of this map up to 70in (178cm). Please get in touch if you're looking for larger, customised or different framing options.
The model in the listing images is holding the 18x18in (46x46cm) version of this map.
The fifth listing image shows an example of my map personalisation service.
Please note the unframed 24x24 inches (61x61cm) map has white edges around the map. These edges can help you with framing, or if you don’t need them they are very easy to snip off with scissors. All other maps, including the framed maps, look exactly like the listing images.
If you’re looking for something slightly different, another option would be this amazing map of Los Angeles by BW Pierce in 1894.
The locations on this map include: Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Westwood Village, Wilshire Boulevard, Bel Air, Malibu, San Fernando Valley and Hollywood Boulevard.

This would make a wonderful birthday, Christmas, Father's Day, work leaving or housewarming gift for someone interested in Hollywood or movie history in the 1930s.
This map is available as a giclée print on acid free archival matte paper, or you can buy it framed. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that suits most aesthetics. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame colour or material. My frames are glazed with super-clear museum-grade acrylic (perspex/acrylite), which is significantly less reflective than glass, safer, and will always arrive in perfect condition.
