Sustainability & Tree Planting
Here at The Unique Maps Co., we have an unusually high affinity for paper. After all, without paper, there can be no maps!
That's why all of our paper, frames and packaging are from FSC certified sources.
But we don't stop there. We've partnered with Treeapp to plant trees around the world.
If you spend €50 or more, we'll plant a tree in your name.

Create your own custom, unique version of one of the finest old, colour maps of London: C & J Greenwood's 1830 Map of London. The map was originally published in six sheets, based on surveys between 1824 and 1826. The Greenwoods did their own surveys of London - to compete with the Ordnance Survey!
As you can see, by the 1820s much of London north of the river is significantly developed. Westminster, City of London and Finsbury all look very similar to modern day. Southwark too is very dense.
The northern stretches of Lambeth are developed - but it's still fields further south. And Wandsworth hardly exists at all.
By the 1820s a lot of the giant eastern docks are already in place, including the West India Docks and the Grand Surrey Outer Docks. Greenwich, of course, is there. But much of south east London is yet to be developed, such as Deptford, Lewisham and New Cross.
Hyde Park, Green Park and Regents Park all look lovely on this colour map, as do regions around the Thames.
We can zoom in on a few streets around where you live today, or your favourite part of London. There's a LOT of detail on the original 1830 map, so we zoom in really close. It would make a great gift for someone who lives in London, too - or anyone who wants to see what London looked like more than 250 years ago.
When ordering, please provide the details of what you'd like the map to focus on. The area, the landmarks, the roads, etc. I will send you a draft of your map before printing so that you can confirm it's exactly what you want.
This map is available as a giclée print on acid free archival matte paper, or you can buy it framed. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that suits most aesthetics. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame colour or material. My frames are glazed with super-clear museum-grade acrylic (perspex/acrylite), which is significantly less reflective than glass, safer, and will always arrive in perfect condition.
