This wonderful old map of Harvard University and Radcliffe College was originally published in 1935. It was created by Edwin Schruers.
This colourful illustrated map shows the oldest American university and one of the most prestigious universities in the world, as it was almost 90 years ago. Harvard University opened in 1636, and only the very rich could afford to attend the university.
To this day, it ranks as one of the most challenging schools to get into. There is so much detail surrounding this map, such as the coat of arms of the seven houses, the university buildings, the statue of John Harvard, and other landmarks surrounding the institution.
Also notable is that this map shows Radcliffe College, which used to be a women's liberal arts college. Harvard at the time, of course, was all-male. Radcliffe has since been folded into the University as the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study.
This map looks great at all sizes: 12x16in (30.5x41cm), 18x24in (45.5x61cm), 16x20in (40.5x51cm), 24x36in (61x91.5cm), 30x40in (76x101.5cm), 37x50in (94x127cm), 45x60in (114x152.5cm) and 52x70in (132x178cm), but it looks even better when printed large.
I can create beautiful, large prints of this map up to 150in (380cm). Please get in touch if you're looking for larger, customised or different framing options.

If you’re looking for something slightly different, another option would be this amazing map of University of Cambridge by Georg Braun in 1575.
The locations on this map include: Charles River, Memorial Drive, Massachusetts Avenue, Oxford Street, Mt Auburn Street, Kirkland Street and Cambridge Street.

This would make a wonderful birthday, Christmas, Father's Day, work leaving or housewarming gift for someone interested in Harvard University and Radcliffe College or one of the oldest and most prestigious seats of learning in the world.
This map is available as a giclée print on acid free archival matte paper, or you can buy it framed. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that suits most aesthetics. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame colour or material. My frames are glazed with super-clear museum-grade acrylic (perspex/acrylite), which is significantly less reflective than glass, safer, and will always arrive in perfect condition.
