Magellan's Voyage is Pieter van der Aa’s 1706 homage to the most audacious sea passage of the early sixteenth century, charting Ferdinand Magellan’s course from Spain, along the Atlantic littorals of the Americas, through the Straits that now bear his name, and onward into the expanse of the Pacific toward Southeast Asia. Created to accompany the Dutch translations of Diego Lopez de Sequeira’s travel account, it distills the drama and consequence of first European contacts with the Malay world into a single, compelling image. Van der Aa, the consummate compiler of exploration lore, frames the Age of Discovery as both narrative and geography, inviting the viewer to follow an itinerary that changed the map of the world and redefined Europe’s relationship with Asia.

The voyage route is traced with unwavering clarity: an oceanic thread that descends the South American coast before threading the perilous narrows of the Straits of Magellan and sweeping westward across the Pacific to the archipelagos of Southeast Asia. Magellan’s death in the Philippines is implicit in the way the line presses onward—history completed by his second in command, Juan Sebastián Elcano, whose return sealed the first circumnavigation. Mi marco estándar es un marco de madera de fresno negro estilo galería. Es simple y tiene un aspecto bastante moderno. Mi marco estándar tiene alrededor de 20 mm (0.8 in) de ancho.
