Its warm orange centre burns through an intricate field of blue, brown and grey, while loosely curving arms spread towards the surrounding darkness. Classified as a starburst galaxy, NGC 1792 lies in the constellation Columba; here, its energetic character is conveyed through dense concentrations of light and a visibly complex spiral form.
The central region provides the image’s strongest point of contrast. Small, brilliant points are embedded within the orange glow, encircled by blue structures that break into knots, strands and irregular folds. Rather than forming clean, diagrammatic curves, the arms appear richly textured: bright passages alternate with earthy, shadowed lanes, giving the galaxy an almost tactile depth.
A closer look
Along the upper edge of the prominent blue arm, narrow threads of light emerge and recede among darker material. Farther out, the colour softens into brown and grey before dissolving into faint wisps at the galaxy’s margins. These quieter transitions are especially effective at large scale, where the delicate outer structures become as compelling as the luminous centre.
The lower-right region gathers into a particularly dense field of fine points, while the lower-left edge fades more gradually into darkness. Scattered lights punctuate the black background beyond the main body of the galaxy, sharpening the distinction between its intricate spiral structure and the comparatively empty field around it. The result is an image built not only from vivid blue and orange, but from the subtler interplay of filaments, dark lanes and minute concentrations of light.

Most orders are made locally and delivered in around 2–3 working days, depending on the product, size and destination.
We print and frame maps and artwork in 23 countries around the world, so your order is usually made close to you or your recipient. That means faster delivery, less time in transit, and no customs or import duty surprises.
Personalised and customised pieces usually take an extra 1–2 working days, because we prepare your design and send it to you for approval before printing.
Very large framed orders can take a little longer, as they need extra care in production and delivery.
Every order is carefully packaged: unframed prints are sent in a strong protective tube, while framed pieces are securely packed with protective materials around the frame.

Express delivery is available at checkout for most countries. Next-day delivery is available in the UK, US, Singapore and the UAE.

Our standard frame is a gallery-style black ash hardwood frame, with a simple, modern look. It is approximately 20mm (0.8in) wide. You can also view some lovely customer photos of framed maps and art.
We use super-clear acrylic glazing, also known as Perspex or Acrylite, instead of traditional glass. It is lighter, safer, and has lower reflectivity, giving the artwork a clearer, cleaner appearance.
Six standard frame colours are available at no extra cost: black, dark brown, dark grey, oak, white, and antique gold. Custom framing and mounting/matting is also available for customers looking for something more specific.
Most maps, art prints, and illustrations are also available as a framed canvas. We use matte cotton canvas, stretch it over a sustainably sourced wooden box frame, and then float the piece within a wooden outer frame. The finished result is beautifully presented, with no glazing between you and the artwork.
All frames are supplied ready to hang, with either string or brackets fitted to the back. Very large frames will include heavy-duty hanging plates and/or a mounting baton. If you have any questions, please get in touch.
We can also supply old maps and artwork on canvas, foam board, cotton rag, and other materials.
