Linee guida generali sulle dimensioni
In generale, la dimensione che vedi nel negozio è esattamente accurata.
Quindi, ad esempio, se acquisti una mappa di 18x24 pollici, dovresti acquistare una cornice che 'si adatta all'opera d'arte' che è 18x24 pollici. Se ordini una mappa di 60x90 cm, dovresti acquistare una cornice che 'si adatta all'opera d'arte' che è 60x90 cm.
Se vedi una mappa che ha una dimensione insolita, come 24x11 pollici (o 61x29 cm), ti consiglio vivamente di aspettare che la mappa arrivi prima di realizzare o ordinare una cornice online. Queste mappe possono variare in dimensione di pochi millimetri, ed è molto frustrante se non si adattano alla tua cornice!

Mappe grandi
Se stai incorniciando la mappa da solo, ti preghiamo di ordinare la mappa e aspettare che arrivi. Poi misura la mappa e ordina una cornice adatta.
Se porti la tua mappa a un corniciaio locale, loro misureranno la mappa per te e poi realizzeranno la cornice adatta.
Per mappe più grandi, assicurati di incollarle correttamente o diventeranno ondulate e con bolle dopo poco tempo. In alternativa, saremmo felici di incorniciarla per te!

Within a square decorative border, red, green and golden-ochre forms unfurl across a pale beige ground: some curl inward like tendrils, while others terminate in crisp points or sweep into elongated loops. There is no narrative scene or central figure. Instead, the composition is held together by repetition, counterpoise and the continual movement of the line.
Made at the height of Art Nouveau, the design belongs to a period in which distinctions between fine and applied art were being deliberately softened. Mucha, a Czech artist working within the cosmopolitan culture of the Belle Époque, became closely associated with the movement’s sinuous contours, stylised natural forms and carefully integrated decoration. Although he is especially celebrated for theatrical and commercial posters featuring statuesque women, this more abstract work reveals the underlying ornamental vocabulary from which those celebrated compositions were built.
A closer look
The eye first encounters a bold red arabesque in the upper centre, its broad curve narrowing into pointed extensions. A second red flourish near the lower edge answers it across the composition, creating a loose vertical rhythm without strict symmetry. Between them, a rounded golden motif spirals outwards, introducing a more compact, circular movement among the longer, freer lines.
Green provides the principal cool contrast. In the upper right, an intricate green form bends through a sequence of whorls, its delicate curvature set against the sharper contours nearby. These coloured elements remain distinct rather than merging: thin outlines give each shape a precise edge, while the spacious beige intervals allow even the densest curls to remain legible. Mucha uses negative space as actively as pattern, turning the untouched ground into channels through which the ornament appears to flow.
The border is not merely a frame but part of the design’s rhythm. Its repeated details and compact corner motifs contain the larger arabesques, creating a measured perimeter around their more expansive gestures. Flat colour and an absence of modelling reinforce the work’s two-dimensional character. Warm red and golden tones advance against the cooler green, yet the restricted palette keeps the many curves and counter-curves in equilibrium.
Context and significance
The arabesque has a long history in decorative art as a structure based on scrolling, branching and interlacing forms. In Art Nouveau it acquired renewed relevance: artists and designers used the continuous line to organise everything from posters and book illustrations to interiors and everyday objects. Nature was frequently distilled rather than copied, with stems, leaves and waves transformed into patterns capable of spreading across an entire surface.
Mucha’s design is particularly revealing because it isolates this process. Freed from lettering, portraiture or anecdote, the curves can be read as a kind of visual grammar. Each motif has an individual silhouette, yet every part contributes to the larger cadence of the square. The result demonstrates how Mucha could make decoration feel structured rather than incidental—an arrangement in which line, colour and empty space carry the full expressive weight.

We then "float" the canvas inside a wooden frame, which is available in a range of colours (black, dark brown, oak, antique gold and white). We print and frame maps and artwork in 24 countries around the world, so your order is usually made close to you or your recipient. That means faster delivery, less time in transit, and no customs or import duty surprises.
Personalised and customised pieces usually take an extra 1–2 working days, because we prepare your design and send it to you for approval before printing.
Very large framed orders can take a little longer, as they need extra care in production and delivery.
Every order is carefully packaged: unframed prints are sent in a strong protective tube, while framed pieces are securely packed with protective materials around the frame.

Our standard frame is a gallery-style black ash hardwood frame, with a simple, modern look. It is approximately 20mm (0.8in) wide. You can also view some lovely customer photos of framed maps and art.
We use super-clear acrylic glazing, also known as Perspex or Acrylite, instead of traditional glass. It is lighter, safer, and has lower reflectivity, giving the artwork a clearer, cleaner appearance.
Six standard frame colours are available at no extra cost: black, dark brown, dark grey, oak, white, and antique gold. Custom framing and mounting/matting is also available for customers looking for something more specific.
Most maps, art prints, and illustrations are also available as a framed canvas. We use matte cotton canvas, stretch it over a sustainably sourced wooden box frame, and then float the piece within a wooden outer frame. The finished result is beautifully presented, with no glazing between you and the artwork.
All frames are supplied ready to hang, with either string or brackets fitted to the back. Very large frames will include heavy-duty hanging plates and/or a mounting baton. If you have any questions, please get in touch.
