This is a minimalist topographical relief map of Singapore, created by The Unique Maps Co. and enhanced with our Unique 3D process. There are no labels, no roads, and no town names—only the island’s quiet rises and gentle depressions, picked out by carefully directed light and shadow. Subtle highlights catch the uplands; soft shade gathers in the river basins and low-lying coasts, revealing a compact landscape shaped as much by nature as by meticulous human intervention.
At the heart of the island, the central spine stands out as the clearest relief. Bukit Timah Hill—the highest natural point—registers as a crisp, bright prominence, with the companion knolls of Bukit Batok and Bukit Gombak stepping away along the ridge. Around them, the Central Catchment’s undulating terrain is etched by the rims of MacRitchie, Upper and Lower Peirce, and Upper Seletar Reservoirs, their impounded valleys expressed as shallow, shadowed embayments carved into the uplands. The Southern Ridges—Mount Faber, Telok Blangah Hill, and Kent Ridge—form a lower but distinct line tapering toward the coast, a sequence of hilltops that catch the light in a gentle arc.
From these modest heights, a web of drainage corridors runs outward. The Singapore River and the Kallang system draw soft grooves through the city’s core, their confluence settling into the broad, low basin of Marina Bay. To the northeast, the Punggol and Serangoon rivers lie as elongated, shaded channels now held behind coastal barrages, their former estuaries preserved as calm reservoirs. In the far northwest, Kranji’s backwaters and the Sungei Buloh wetlands press a faint, marshy texture into the shoreline—an intricate fringe where the island meets the Straits of Johor.
The coastal plains to the south and east read almost level, a broad apron where light spreads evenly and only seawalls, parklands, and engineered shorelines break the continuity. Around Changi and the East Coast, long, low terraces of reclaimed ground appear as straightened edges and geometric peninsulas, an intentional counterpoint to the island’s natural curves. In the west, the Jurong shoreline and Pandan basin draw a similar man-made signature—harbors, channels, and impounded waters that sit nearly flush with the sea, their forms traced by narrow bands of shadow.
Beyond the main island, the surrounding islets give the map its delicate punctuation. Sentosa shows as a compact rise with sheltered coves and crafted lagoons; the Southern Islands—St John’s, Lazarus, and Kusu—dot the approaches like stepping stones. To the northeast, Pulau Ubin sits as a low, knuckled landscape, with the tidal flats of Chek Jawa suggested by an almost imperceptible smoothing of relief at the water’s edge. Pulau Tekong, broad and subdued, mirrors the mainland’s flatness, separated from it by a thread of calm water that lies in deep, even shade.
Even in a country famed for its level ground, the interplay of height and hollow is unmistakable in this relief. Hilltops glint; wooded slopes soften; urban basins and river courses sink into stippled shadow. Whether you call Singapore home, return here in memory, or are gifting it to someone who does, this map invites you to trace familiar journeys along ridgelines and waterways, to feel the island’s quiet elevations under your fingertips, and to see a well-loved city-state through the simple drama of light and form.
Please note that our Unique 3D maps look remarkably 3D, particularly when framed, but they are 2D prints on paper (or canvas).
About our Unique 3D Topographic Relief Maps
These aren’t just maps — they’re landscapes, sculpted with light and shadow.
Our shaded relief prints use ultra high resolution topographic data and a secret 3D rendering process to create the illusion of raised terrain — like the mountains are about to lift right off the page. No labels, no borders, no distractions. Just the raw shape of the land, brought to life in a clean, modern style.
They’re designed to feel timeless. Bold enough to be a centrepiece, subtle enough to blend in. A perfect gift for map lovers, mountain wanderers, or anyone who finds beauty in the shape of the Earth.

And of course, like any of our other maps, you can personalise this topographical map as well. Why not mark your favourite peaks, or the routes of your favourite hikes and cycle rides?

If you're not sure what size to order, or you're looking for a custom order of some kind – a different size, a different colour, a special frame – then please contact me. I usually respond within a few minutes.
You can see an example of my map personalisation service in the fifth image. Zoom in and take a look. My personalised maps are always very well received. Take a look at more examples of personalisation.
You can also choose to age your map to make it look older. This is popular amongst my customers who want their artwork to look like an older, antique print. You can see an example of ageing in the sixth product image, or go ahead and check out lots of examples of other aged artwork.
The model in the listing images is holding the 18x24in (45x60cm) version of this map.
I can print and frame this beautiful topographical 3D map at sizes up to 3 metres (10ft). If you are looking for a size or framing option that isn't available online, please get in touch.
This map is available as a giclée print on acid free archival matte paper, or you can buy it framed. My standard frames come in six colours (black, dark brown, dark grey, antique gold, oak and white), and custom framing is available for an additional charge. My frames are glazed with super-clear museum-grade acrylic (perspex/acrylite), which is significantly less reflective than glass, safer, and will always arrive in perfect condition.
This map is also available as a float framed canvas, sometimes known as a shadow gap framed canvas or canvas floater. The map is printed on artist's cotton canvas and then stretched over a handmade box frame. We then "float" the canvas inside a wooden frame, which is available in a range of colours (black, dark brown, oak, antique gold and white). This is a wonderful way to present a map without glazing in front. See some examples of float framed canvas maps and explore the differences between my different finishes.
For something truly unique, this map is also available in "Unique 3D", our trademarked process that dramatically transforms the map so that it has a wonderful sense of depth. We combine the original map with detailed topography and elevation data, so that mountains and the terrain really "pop". For more info and examples of 3D maps, check my Unique 3D page.
